Will Spider-Man Lose Girlfriend to Batman?

Meanwhile Multi-Verse Spideys help save Parker from JJ Jameson

umors have spiked up now that we are approaching the release date of Spider-Man 3 (title officially not available yet) and supposedly slated for December of this year starring Tom Holland.  Rumors have it that Batman’s Bruce Wayne may put the moves on MJ aka Michelle Jones. Wildly enough the studios are expecting to release this next milestone in the MCU this year, 2021 although by all accounts the crew are still doing principal photography and post production has been in pitiful spurts.

“We got a lot more shooting to do. We started before Christmas and shot for like seven weeks. We stopped for the Christmas break, and then we’re starting again.” Tom Holland to Variety Magazine, Feb 2021

The story for this installment has been under tight wraps and even Holland Loose Lips himself has been credited with keeping the mystery going.  Leaks have it that actors such as Alfred Molina of Spider-Man 2 Doc Ock (Maguire and Dunst) have been cast and Electro is also back as the villain (one of the worst Spidey villains on movie record) along with possibly Willem Dafoe and Dane DeHaan reprising their roles as The Green Goblin and Harry.  The only thing Disney and Sony have not confirmed as of yet, although anticipation is spreading like wildfire, is that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be returning in their roles as Spidey to join Holland in a Three Musketeers type multiverse showdown.

“I can say that it’s the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made… I’ve never seen a standalone superhero movie quite like it.” Tom Holland to Variety Magazine, Feb 2021

We can only ask where is Miles Morales as the youngest Spidey of the lot?  The animated movie Spider-Man into The Multi-Verse’s unexpected success may have single handedly been responsible for this live action foray into a similar setup.

We’re not sure how and who started the rumors, the comic book tabloids and movie zines have put the claim squarely on the fans, while we suspect it is the studios who may have made the suggestions, testing audience reaction to one of several concepts they may have lined up for storyline and cliff hanger.

“No, no, they will not be appearing in this film.  Unless they have hidden the most massive piece of information from me” Tom Holland to Esquire Magazine, Feb 2021

Hold on friend, the new Spider-Man movie is a direct continuation of the WandaVision series, according to Disney and Marvel.  And this week’s WandaVision bringing on the most unexpected twists in terms of casting choices, putting The X-Men’s version of The Flash in the show, replacing the dead brother of Wanda from Avengers Ultron, may have sparked an even more crazed frenzy in terms of how the studios can now mix and match characters and actors from different series and different studios.

Disney recently acquired 20th Century Fox Studios which had been producing the X-Men and the Fantastic Four and some of their characters are the same portrayed by Marvel Studios (acquired also by Disney a few years earlier) using different actors – think like James Bond with all the different actors, only all of them are roughly the same age.  Now in WandaVision, the character of Quicksilver (the Flash) portrayed by Evan Peters in the X-Men is far more likeable, goofier, and a much warmer character who was given a lengthy story arc spanning several movie installments versus a very brief appearance by a different actor portraying Quicksilver in Avengers Ultron who was killed off in a dramatic send off.
